Hygiene outside the home
You should remain on guard outside the home. Although it is generally easy to identify ill persons in the home and take the necessary measures, it is not so straightforward outside the home.
Continuing with social activities will still be important, although taking several precautions will be necessary.
Leaving the home, taking the bus or train, and pursuing sporting or cultural activities are just some of the situations that will require you to observe the essential hygiene rules : limiting physical contact, wearing a mask, washing your hands, blowing your nose, cleaning objects and processing waste (see Sheets 2).
In particular, you should ensure that you:
maintain a safe health protection distance (2 metres) between yourself and others in order to avoid any risk of contamination;
avoid shaking hands or embracing if you meet someone;
make sure you have tissues before going out and do not throw them into the street after usage;
regularly wash your hands (carry towlettes);
wear a mask if you are ill in order to avoid contaminating others;
wear a mask if you are not ill in order to protect yourself.
The following sheets provide additional information for specific places and activities such as shops, cafes and restaurants, entertainment venues, etc.
